If you have a strong sweet tooth, Levain Bakery in Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City is the best place to visit. There was a gooey cookie that each bite packs a powerful endorphin rush which you had to try before dying. I’m now again craving for it as I write this article. The first time I heard about it was when my sister Ivy tagged me a Facebook video of the best cookies in New York, and when I saw it I was curious. I knew I had to have it!

In my recent trip to New York, I purposely sought this place. I made a trip at a famous tiny bakery with my childhood friend Phoebe who’s already based in NYC and I haven’t seen for a long time. She made my voyage extra special. It was a 10-minute walk from Central Park and was totally worth it. (I’d suggest coming there hungry). The smells of fresh baked cookies and breads coming out of the oven will lead you to the door from a block away. You’ll never get lost, just follow your nose. We got there around 5pm, there was a long line on the sunny side of the street. There always seems to have a line all day long but moves quickly. I queued for about 10 minutes to get inside and swear it’s worth the wait for the marvelous cookies.

When you know your business is successful. The line for a cookie at #levainbakery #mustryit #goals 🍪

The bakery
This little bakery is located on167 West 74th Street (near 72nd St. station) and branches in Harlem and in East Hampton. It is hidden from tourist but you’ll easily recognize the place by the long queues. The inside of the bakery can accommodate about 5-8 people but with only 2 stools by the window. For the experience, we sat down in this tiny shop, tried their cookies with a cup of coffee.

The cookie
Believe me, Levain’s cookies taste like heaven. One cookie is a meal into itself. It is humongous, 6 inches in diameter, 8-ounce, and about an inch thick, soft and melts in your mouth. This fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie is a little crisp on the outside and oh so chewy gooey on the inside. I got 4 flavors in a box. They are Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Chocolate-chip Walnut, Oatmeal Raisin, and Dark Chocolate Chip. My favorite is the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip with a nice cup of coffee. It’s a must try!

The price
Believe it or not, it is just $4 apiece. The cookies initially look expensive but when you taste them, you realize that they are definitely worth every cent! They are a bit pricey for some (it’s NYC guys), but there is a lot of cookies packed into one.

The service
As far as service, it was great! The staffs are friendly with all smiles. We really appreciate them for quick service and so helpful.

Recommendation.
Honestly, their cookies are to die for! No exaggeration, there’s a lot of places in NYC are overrated but this one is not. You won’t be able to stop eating their heart-attack inducing cookies until you’re bordering food coma. Well you don’t have to feel ashamed of your caloric consumption, just walk back down to Central Park or head your way to Times Square instead of taking a subway. Lastly, if get the chance to go back to New York I shall be visiting Levain Bakery again, this time with a large bag. I am lucky enough to go back to New York I shall be visiting Levain again with a large bag. I promise you will not be disappointed, especially if you are a cookie lover.
